IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL MEMBERS

Important Announcement to all members

1/ Change to existing club rules effective from Friday 19th July 2019
At our Committee Meeting on Wednesday 17th July 2019
it was decided to add a new club rule effective immediately.
Pike angling in any form, i.e. use of dead baits or spinning with lures, is not permitted during the period from the 16th June to the 30th September. This rule change has been made in line with recommendations from the Environment Agency and the Angling Trust, and brings the club rules in line with many other angling clubs.

2/ Low river water level and hot weather conditions
At present the river level is very low and oxygen levels are also at a critical
level. With this in mind all members are requested to return any caught fish immediately after landing and unhooking, and not to use a keep net to retain the catch under any circumstances. The Environment Agency have also advised that every effort should be made not to disturb the silt/mud on the bottom of the river by attempting to clear weed growth with rakes or drag lines. Disturbing the mud/silt in low water level conditions dramatically reduces the oxygen content in the water and could cause severe
distress to the fish in the river.
